I’m a big fan of Augustinus Bader’s The Light Cream and then Merit’s Great Skin Instant Glow Serum, which is very subtle. At the end of the day, I use a gel cleanser from Oskia called the Renaissance Cleansing Gel. I love using a muslin cloth for a deep cleanse. I’m a real bath girl, and there’s an Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser that I love; it has the best smell. When I was pregnant I discovered the brand Mutha, and I think their Body Butter and Body Oil are the best.

Instagrammable laundry rooms have become a new luxury status symbol for millennial homeowners. AdvertisementAdvertisementRich millennials are starting to splurge on a space in the home that has previously been neglected and hidden from guests – the laundry room. Homeowners increased spending on laundry rooms by 33% in 2021, according to a 2022 survey by Houzz, an interior design website connecting homeowners with renovation professionals. On social media, upscale laundry rooms are decked out with colorful tiles, marble counters, tongue and groove wall paneling, expensive hardware, an abundance of storage space, and even dog showers in some cases. Others are taking it up a notch with nearly $30 luxury laundry detergents from brands like The Laundress and of course, the firm favorite – the $40 Aesop handwash, perched by the butler sink.

REUTERS/Leonhard Foeger Acquire Licensing RightsSAO PAULO, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Brazilian cosmetics maker Natura &Co (NTCO3.SA) said on Monday its board of directors had authorized the company to search for "strategic alternatives" for its subsidiary The Body Shop, including a potential sale of the business. The move comes after the Brazilian company in April agreed to sell its luxury brand Aesop to French cosmetics group L'Oreal (OREP.PA) at an enterprise value of $2.53 billion. Natura grew through high profile acquisitions in recent years, including the purchase of The Body Shop from L'Oreal in 2017, but has now been looking for "discipline" and deleveraging as it aims to bring back profitability. "There can be no assurance that this process will result in any transaction," Natura said in a securities filing about the potential Body Shop deal.

Brazilian beauty conglomerate Natura & Co is considering a sale of The Body Shop after the skin care and cosmetics line saw another quarter of declining sales, according to a Monday securities filing. Natura & Co, which owns the Avon and Natura brands and is in the process of selling its Aesop line to L'Oreal , wrote in the filing that its board of directors "recently authorized its management to explore strategic alternatives for The Body Shop," the filing said. Late last year, Sao Paulo-based Natura denied rumors that it was considering a sale of The Body Shop. On Aug. 15, the company announced second-quarter results and said sales at The Body Shop fell 12% to 800 million Brazilian reals, or $163.7 million. However, The Body Shop has struggled to hang on to its market share and meet customers where they are after consumer habits shifted during the Covid pandemic, executives said during an August earnings call.

PARIS, April 19 (Reuters) - L'Oreal reported a 13% rise in first quarter sales, beating expectations thanks to strong business in the United States and Europe as shoppers shrugged off rising prices, but said it had not benefited yet from the end of COVID-19 curbs in China. Sales of the French cosmetics group, which sells brands ranging from Maybelline to Lancome, came to 10.38 billion euros ($11.37 billion) over the first three months to the end of March. The 13% increase on an organic basis beat analyst expectations for 8.1% growth according to a consensus estimate cited by Barclays. Sales in Europe and North America grew by 16% and 16.6% respectively, with the company flagging a strong performance from its consumer products, which has been moving upmarket, as well as its dermatological beauty division, which sells CeraVe skincare. In mainland China, where the company said luxury sales were flat due to low inventories, consumer demand and store traffic resumed from February.
China investment drowns out decoupling rhetoric

MUMBAI, April 10 (Reuters Breakingviews) - International companies are reinforcing President Xi Jinping’s message that China is open for business. Japan Display’s (6740.T) shares soared 21% on Monday after the Apple (AAPL.O) supplier said it would provide its OLED technology to China’s HKC. And Europe’s Airbus (AIR.PA) just moved to double capacity in China, agreeing to push ahead with a second China assembly line despite failing to win any new orders during French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent state visit. The new commitments provide a reminder that multinational companies are making – and want to make more – money in the People’s Republic. At least some of the decoupling rhetoric is being drowned out.
Researchers used AI to detect whether someone had a cold based on the tone of their voice. The researchers, led by electronic engineer Pankaj Warule, hypothesized that a cold could upset this regular pattern. The study was able to detect cold correctly about 70% of the time. Last year, a research group was able to use AI to detect Parkinson's through the breathing patterns of patients. Depression and several forms of cancer may also be detected with the use of AI-trained analysis of vocal patterns.

LONDON, April 6 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Saudi Arabia is defriending read more Uncle Sam on oil, while deploying its video-game war chest in his backyard. Savvy Games, owned by the country’s Public Investment Fund, announced on Wednesday that it was buying U.S. mobile games specialist Scopely for $4.9 billion. Though privately held Scopely doesn’t disclose its financials, Savvy looks to be getting a good price. Less clear is how Scopely contributes to Saudi’s aims of becoming the “ultimate global hub” for gaming and pivoting its economy away from fossil fuels. If Saudi wants to create jobs from the rapid growth of domestic game consumption, it needs to turn its games M&A into gaming boots on the ground.

And now it has unveiled an acquisition of its own, buying Code Advisors, a technology-focused boutique M&A firm co-founded by former CBS executives Quincy Smith and Michael Marquez. It is the first purchase for Raine since it was co-founded by a group including Joe Ravitch and Brandon Gardner in 2009 in the aftermath of the last big downturn. Since then, Raine has ballooned to 170 people with about 20 partners advising on transactions such as last year’s 4.25 billion pound ($5.3 billion) sale of Chelsea Football Club. WASHINGTON, April 5 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Elon Musk’s Dogecoin yapping might be loud enough to hear in Washington. The token’s value soared as much as 30% earlier this week after Musk-owned Twitter featured a Shiba Inu on the social media service’s homepage instead of its blue bird logo. It could help inform the crypto-skeptical U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as it considers how to police the industry. Musk said that year that he had invested in Dogecoin, but it’s unclear how much, if any, he holds today. The SEC has largely policed crypto markets through enforcement action when it sees clear examples of tokens behaving like securities.
Aesop products sit on display for sale at their store on Abbott Kinney Blvd. French cosmetics group L'Oreal struck a deal with Brazil's Natura & Co to buy Aesop, its Australian luxury brand, at an enterprise value of $2.53 billion, both firms said on Monday. The deal expands L'Oreal's presence in the luxury cosmetics market, while marking a financial relief for the Brazilian firm, burdened by shrinking margins and heavy debt. "Aesop taps into all of today's ascending currents and L'Oreal will contribute to unleash its massive growth potential, notably in China and travel retail," L'Oreal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus said in a statement. For Natura, the deal adds to a broader organizational shakeup that saw former chief executive and executive chairman Roberto Marques step down in June last year, handing over the reins to Fabio Barbosa.
Aesop deal spreads scent of stressed M&A

TORONTO, April 4 (Reuters Breakingviews) - The scent of stress is wafting from the Brazilian backer of Aesop. Natura (NTCO3.SA)agreed to sell the luxury lotion maker to French cosmetics giant L’Oreal (OREP.PA) for about $2.5 billion. It offloaded the successful investment to shore up its balance sheet, an M&A motivation that probably will spread. With recessions being anticipated in a higher interest rate environment, more companies are bound to consider a similar calculus. French cosmetics giant L'Oreal plans to buy Aesop for $2.5 billion. Aesop is an Australian skincare brand, known for its simple marketing and gender-neutral products. Aesop is an Australian brand that dates back to 1987 when founder Dennis Paphitis opened a Melbourne hair salon and began mixing essential oils into hair products. Today, it's known for luxurious home fragrances, hair oils, and skincare products, which are served up in apothecary-style brown bottles. It has become an aspirational brand for wealthy millennials who are happy to spend $40 on its hand wash to make their bathrooms look more upmarket.
Hong Kong CNN —L’Oréal is buying Australian brand Aesop in a deal that values it at $2.5 billion, in the biggest brand acquisition ever made by the French beauty giant. The sale was announced Monday by Aesop’s parent, Brazilian firm Natura & Co, which also owns The Body Shop and Avon. It brings Aesop, which is known for its luxury skin and body care products, under the same umbrella as brands such as Garnier and Maybelline. The deal would be L’Oréal’s largest acquisition of another brand on record, followed by its $1.7 billion purchase of YSL Beauté in 2008, according to data from Dealogic. “Aesop taps into all of today’s ascending currents,” L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus said in the statement.

Other companies with B Corp status include Seventh Generation, Ben & Jerry's, Aesop — and Patagonia, which Thornton called "arguably the most famous B Corp in the world."
Brazil's Natura mulls U.S. IPO, spin-off of luxury Aesop brand

SAO PAULO, Oct 17 (Reuters) - Brazilian cosmetics company Natura & Co (NTCO3.SA) on Monday said it has begun studying a possible initial public offering (IPO) in the United States or spin-off of its Aesop brand, as it looks to fund its expansion. Natura said that in the event of an IPO or spin-off the luxury cosmetics brand would continue to be led by its current chief executive, Michael O'Keeffe. Natura reported a wider-than-expected quarterly net loss in August, as inflation and tough market conditions put pressure on in its margins. It said at the time it planned to increase the accountability of its business units after years of expansion fueled by high-profile acquisitions.
